We attach great importance to meeting with the management of companies in which we invest; for example, our UK equity team conducts around 800 company meetings per year, many of them site visits.

These meetings give us valuable insight into a company’s strategy and allow us to identify change factors that will drive the stock price. We are often significant investors in companies, which gives us advantages of access to senior management.

Innes McKeand

Innes McKeand joined AEGON in November 2006. As head of the equity team, he manages and supports the fund managers on each of the regional equity desks. Innes joined from Allied Irish Bank (AIB) Investment Managers, where he was chief investment officer. Prior to AIB, he was head of investments at the Nestlé UK Pension trust and also spent 14 years with Scottish Life Assurance Company. Innes has an honours degree in physics from the University of Edinburgh and a master's degree in technological economics from the University of Stirling. He is an associate member of the Institute of Investment Management and Research.
