Global Strategy

We may be witnessing a particularly powerful example of the market’s adoption of the maxim derived from Robert Louis Stevenson that it is better to travel than arrive. Stevenson actually wrote: “for to travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive”. The context is a musing on the incessant need to face challenges in life before the one inevitability: death. Let’s hope the market’s not taking that too literally.

Global Strategy

We have added to our equity holdings in Asia in the last month as the rally in equities continued. The traditionally “high beta” markets (i.e. those that will move up more than the median in bull markets, and down more in bear markets) found in the region will continue to benefit if investors continue to focus on the cyclical improvement in many indicators.
